CASO 1 · INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION
Client: Emerson — Multinational Industrial Automation Company
Sector: Industrial automation · Process management · Operator training
Technology: Gilgamesh · 3D Digital Twin · OPC · VR / Immersive
Engagement: Long-term, multi-project partnership
The Challenge
Since the early 2010s Emerson saw growing demand for interactive 3D operator training in industrial plants.
After several proof-of-concepts, it needed an Immersive Training Simulator (ITS) built on top of its existing process simulation engines (Mimic, Aspen HYSYS) and DCS (DeltaV) — linking field operators with control-room operators to standardise and scale training practices across shifts, plants and sites.
The Kairos3D Solution
Gilgamesh imports existing 3D CAD models of any size and configures real-time data exchange with external systems through the OPC interoperability layer — bidirectional links between DCS, dynamic process simulation and the 3D model. Graphic quality scales on demand, from auto-upscaled CAD geometries to fully animated, shadow-lit interactive assets, with no change to the underlying functionality. The resulting digital twins deploy to any immersive device: head-mounted displays, stereoscopic screens, domes, caves and touch screens.
Results
- Higher knowledge retention — Operators train on real-life scenarios exactly as they occur in production.
- Stronger skills-assessment performance — Trainees reach operational readiness faster.
- Safer facility operations — Realistic practice translates into safer, more effective plant performance.
- Asset protection & risk mitigation — The integrated architecture helps protect assets and avoid outages.
- Lower logistics costs — Scenarios are experienced virtually, cutting the cost and risk of on-site training.
- Multi-sector applicability — One approach across oil & gas, energy, hydrogen, life science and mining.
Why Kairos3D
A flexible, model-agnostic 3D/VR digital twin platform that loads any CAD model at any scale, interoperates with any external system, and runs on any immersive display — letting teams protect assets, plan migration and turnaround, reconnect control room and field, allows greenfield production to commence earlier and reuse existing CAD.
