Engagement: Training programme for new staff and young engineers
A state-owned oil and gas company, targeting Net Zero by 2045, needed a scalable way to transfer the knowledge of experienced operators to new engineers.
The Challenge
The company required 3D e-learning modules for new staff and young engineers, to build job-related knowledge of the process, control, design and operation of its upstream facilities. The goal: unassisted, automatic training tools that could deploy best practices and expert know-how at scale — without pulling senior experts away from their work.
The Kairos3D Solution
Kairos3D developed e-learning covering the major equipment of the production facilities — three-phase separators, knock-out drums, H2S strippers, glycol dehydration, produced-water treatment, pumps, compressors and injection wells. Beyond classical e-learning content, the solution embeds immersive 3D digital twins of the target equipment for learn-by-doing exercises, with online testing to certify understanding and assess readiness for normal and abnormal operating procedures.
Results
- Theory plus hands-on practice — Classical e-learning coupled with a risk-free 3D VR environment.
- Situational awareness — Experiential learning builds the judgement to make the right call in each scenario.
- Scalable knowledge transfer — Expert know-how deployed widely without removing SMEs from operations.
- Lower logistics costs — Training delivered virtually rather than on-site.
- Certified competence — Built-in testing verifies trainee readiness before real operations.
Why Kairos3D
Combining a classical e-learning system with immersive 3D simulation gives the workforce the closest-to-real, risk-free practice — a cost-effective, safer path to competence for upstream field operators.
