Client: National Oil Company (NOC)
Sector: Oil & Gas — Engineering / Design
Technology: Gilgamesh · 3D Digital Twin · Immersive VR · P&ID / data-sheet integration
Engagement: Immersive design reviews (30/60/90)
Traditional 2D drawings and static models made it hard to catch spatial, ergonomic and maintenance issues early. The client needed structured, collaborative reviews in an immersive environment.
The Challenge
The client needed to run structured 30/60/90 design reviews in an immersive, collaborative setting — identifying design flaws, clashes and operability constraints during engineering, to prevent costly rework during construction.
The Kairos3D Solution
Gilgamesh became the core platform for immersive 3D model reviews. Using VR headsets, teams and stakeholders could experience the plant at 1:1 scale for intuitive assessment of layout, piping routes and maintenance access. The platform supported the 30/60/90 checkpoints, surfaced technical data sheets and P&IDs directly inside the 3D model for data-backed decisions, and let multiple users meet in the same virtual space to resolve issues in real time.
Results
- Early risk mitigation — Clashes and operability issues caught in engineering, not construction.
- 1:1 spatial understanding — VR walkthroughs make layout and maintenance access intuitive.
- Data-backed decisions — P&IDs and data sheets accessible inside the 3D model.
- Real-time collaboration — Multiple stakeholders reviewing together in one virtual space.
- A reusable asset — The design-phase twin is repurposed for operator training and can evolve into an operational twin.
Why Kairos3D
The immersive design-review twin is not discarded after design freeze: it becomes a repurposable asset for field-operator training (SOPs, HSE) and can grow into an operational twin for real-time data visualization, next-generation control rooms and predictive maintenance.
